AC-130 Hercules Military Aircraft Building Blocks

The AC-130 Hercules is the most heavily armed ground-attack aircraft ever to enter service — a four-engine turboprop transport platform rebuilt from the fuselage up into an airborne weapons system. This 1,713-piece brick-built replica captures the AC-130 at its most imposing: the barrel fuselage marked "AIR GUNSHIP" and "130", the four contra-rotating propeller assemblies, the full-span high wing, the characteristic bulged nose radome, and the side-firing gun ports that define the gunship variant's combat identity. At 64.5 cm wingtip to wingtip, this is a model that fills a shelf the way the original fills a sky.

The functional features built into this model match the complexity of the aircraft it recreates. The retractable landing gear retracts fully into fuselage compartments — both main gear bogies disappear into the belly, exactly as on the real aircraft. The rear cargo hatch opens on its hinges, revealing the interior bay. The wing spoilers rotate on their hinges. The tail gunboat assembly swings. The side-mounted gun barrel on the fuselage rotates on its mount — the single detail that most immediately communicates the AC-130's combat role. A ground support vehicle with tow truck and cargo trailer is included as an accessory, completing the tarmac scene.

The build is structured around the fuselage as the primary spine — a cylindrical section built in horizontal rings before the wings, tail and nose assemblies attach. The four engine nacelles each house a separate propeller assembly with individual blade elements. The wing construction is the most technically demanding section, requiring consistent panel alignment across the full 64.5 cm span. The model can be displayed on its retracted landing gear for a ground-parked configuration, or posed on its extended gear for a pre-flight scene with the support vehicle positioned alongside.

In gunmetal grey throughout, with "AIR GUNSHIP" fuselage lettering, USAF star-and-bar roundels on both wings, "AC" tail code and mission markings, the finished model reads instantly and correctly as a US military gunship. The nose radome, the cheek-mounted sensor pods, the cockpit glazing and the antenna array on the upper fuselage are all reproduced. At 64.5 × 55.5 × 20 cm, this is the most physically commanding aircraft build in the Blocks Racer military collection.

Dimensions: 64.5 cm x 55.5 cm x 20 cm (Length, Width, Height) / 25.4 in x 21.9 in x 7.9 in (Length, Width, Height)  |  Pieces: 1,713  |  Difficulty: Advanced

Expert Note: Build the fuselage spine first and complete it fully before attaching the wings — the cylindrical fuselage sections require careful ring-by-ring alignment, and the wing attachment points must be level before the full span is committed. Build each engine nacelle and propeller assembly as an independent unit before mounting to the wing leading edge; this makes propeller blade alignment significantly easier than building in situ.

  • Authentic AC-130 Hercules silhouette — barrel fuselage with "AIR GUNSHIP" and "130" markings, four-engine turboprop layout, full-span high wing, bulged nose radome, cheek sensor pods and side-firing gun port reproduced in gunmetal grey with USAF roundels and tail codes
  • Retractable landing gear — both main gear bogies retract fully into fuselage compartments, replicating the AC-130's ground-retracted configuration
  • Opening rear cargo hatch — the rear fuselage ramp opens on its hinges, revealing the interior bay
  • Rotating side-mounted gun barrel — the fuselage-side gun mount rotates, directly communicating the gunship's defining combat role
  • Articulated wing spoilers and swing tail — spoilers rotate on their hinges and the tail gunboat assembly swings, adding functional detail to every control surface
  • Four independent propeller assemblies — each engine nacelle houses a separate propeller with individual blade elements, built independently before wing mounting
  • Ground support vehicle included — tow truck with cargo trailer accessory for a complete tarmac display scene
  • 64.5 cm wingspan — the largest aircraft build in the collection — at 64.5 × 55.5 cm footprint, this is a statement display piece that commands any shelf or display surface
  • 1,713 precision-fit bricks — consistent gunmetal grey colour accuracy across the full fuselage, wing and tail assembly with all markings and sensor details throughout
