The Vintage Steam Whale Ship Building Blocks Kit

There are ships. And then there are vessels that exist outside of time — part tall ship, part deep-sea leviathan, part steam-powered machine from a world that never was but should have been. The Vintage Steam Whale Ship is exactly that: a 1,979-piece steampunk masterpiece that fuses the billowing canvas sails of the Age of Exploration with the gold-plated pipe work, pressure cylinders and mechanical jaw of a creature pulled from the darkest pages of a Jules Verne novel. Nothing in your collection looks like this. Nothing comes close.

The design speaks in two registers simultaneously. Above the waterline, a classic square-rigged sailing ship — two full masts with aged linen-coloured sails, rope ladders, a bowsprit, a stern flag and an ornate gilt-trimmed upper deck with arched cabin windows. Below and forward, the hull transforms into the body of a whale: a sculpted grey mechanical hull bristling with gold-plated pipes, coiled pressure tubes, gear mechanisms and a hinged jaw that opens and rotates independently. The contrast between wooden ship and mechanical beast is the whole point — and it's executed with a level of detail that makes every angle a discovery.

The gold-plated barrel parts are the build's signature material. Across dozens of fittings — pipe connectors, pressure valves, scrollwork brackets, gear housings and hull decorations — the warm metallic finish of these specialised pieces creates a depth and richness that standard bricks simply cannot achieve. Combined with the gunmetal grey of the whale hull sections and the warm brown of the ship's deck and masts, the finished model has the colour complexity of a museum-quality piece, not a toy.

At 55 cm long, 24.6 cm wide and 43.3 cm tall — displayed on its dedicated black display stand — the Vintage Steam Whale Ship fills a shelf the way a great painting fills a wall. The integrated ambient lighting system illuminates the mechanical internals of the whale body from within, casting a warm glow through the gill vents and pressure chambers that transforms the model after dark. This is the centrepiece of a collection, not an addition to one.

Expert Note: Build the whale hull and mechanical jaw assembly first, before adding the ship superstructure — the lower hull is the structural foundation for everything above it. The gold-plated parts are concentrated in the mid-hull pipe and valve sections; lay them all out by type before beginning that sequence to avoid any interruption to the flow of a visually critical build stage.

  • Dual-identity steampunk design — the hull of a deep-sea mechanical whale fused with the rigging of a classic square-rigged sailing ship, creating a wholly original silhouette that belongs to no single era or genre
  • Gold-plated barrel parts throughout — specialised metallic-finish bricks across pipe connectors, pressure valves, scrollwork brackets, gear housings and hull decorations deliver a material richness impossible to achieve with standard bricks
  • Articulated mechanical jaw — the whale's lower jaw opens and rotates independently, animating the model's most distinctive feature
  • Integrated ambient lighting system — multiple internal light points illuminate the whale's mechanical body from within, casting warm light through gill vents and pressure chambers for dramatic after-dark display
  • Full sailing ship rigging — two complete masts with aged linen-coloured sails, rope ladders, a bowsprit, crow's nest and stern flag reproduce the silhouette of an Age of Exploration vessel above the mechanical hull
  • Ornate gilt-trimmed upper deck — arched cabin windows with gold detailing, decorative scrollwork brackets and a fully dressed stern recreate the grandeur of a period tall ship captain's quarters
  • Dedicated display stand — black display base with gold nameplate presents the model at the correct angle for maximum visual impact
  • 55 cm statement scale — at 55 cm in length and 43.3 cm tall, this is a display piece with genuine physical presence, designed to anchor any shelf or desk
  • 1,979 precision-fit bricks — combining standard, specialised and gold-plated elements across a complex organic and mechanical form
